Persepolis
Marjane Satrapi, Vincent Paronnaud / FR, US, 2007 / 96 min.
Stunning 4K restoration and re-release of this groundbreaking animated classic about growing up in the wake of the Iranian Revolution under the mullahs, and the ensuing struggles for personal freedom. Persepolis – adapted from Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel – is still a source of inspiration for human rights movements around the world.

Persepolis follows the life of ‘Marji’, a spirited young girl growing up in Iran in the wake of the fall of cruel dictator, the American-backed Shah. After spiritual leader ayatollah Khomeini is placed at the head of the Iranian Revolution, this fails to result in the desired freedoms: the strict Islamic regime, enforced by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, will not permit any freedom of religion or speech.
Remastered in 4K by StudioCanal upon supervision of Marjane Satrapi.
