Sound of View
Eye on Sound: Sound of View
The same film, four times. Four totally different musical worlds. In this unique experiment by filmmaker Barbara Meter and the Postland ensemble, one film gets four ‘faces’ – each with its own soundtrack, composed live. How does music influence how we see images?

Sound of View is a sensory journey through sound, image and perception. What happens if you screen the same film four times, but each time with different music? In this experimental screening, one of film pioneer Barbara Meter’s films is given 'four faces' through four different soundtracks. These were composed by Juan Felipe Waller, Yu Oda, Katarzyna Szwed and Friso van Wijck, and are performed live by the Postland Ensemble.
The composers differ not only in terms of their country of origin (Japan, Poland, the Netherlands and Mexico), but also in their musical backgrounds (rock, heavy metal, jazz and classical). Which results in four completely different interpretations.
Barbara Meter
Barbara Meter is the ‘grande dame’ of experimental film. Meter made her film Voorbij de wegen specially for this screening, bringing together new images with footage from her personal archive.
Postland
Postland is a contemporary musical collective from Utrecht centred around five like-minded musicians who curate multiform projects, curiously exploring the opportunities offered by music, and often seeking interaction with other cultural and social movements.
