In this documentary, Marcus follows in the footsteps of a father who lived outside the system. Before long, Marcus, too, grows increasingly distrustful of institutions. He becomes increasingly captivated by the manosphere, which promises him discipline, self-control, and a future.
In late 2021, the body of Englishman Stanley Powton is discovered in a makeshift tent on the outskirts of Amsterdam. De Eenzame Uitvaart Foundation, an organization where poets write verses for individuals with no surviving relatives, tracks down his son, Marcus, just in time for the funeral. Marcus had met his father only once, as an infant. What begins as a quest to find a long-lost father gradually shifts into Marcus’s own desire to live outside the system.
