Stand by Me
Rob Reiner / US, 1986 / 87 min.
The classic Stand By Me, based on a novella by Stephen King, tells the story of Gordie Lachance, a writer – read: King himself – who looks back on his childhood.

Unable to cope with the death of his brother, Gordie and three of his friends go in search of the body of a missing boy their own age near a deserted railway track. Tensions run high when a gang of older boys catch up with them and turn their mission into a race to be the first to find the body.
This perfectly balanced mix of adventure, humour and nostalgia was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe. "It happens sometimes. Friends come in and out of our lives like busboys in a restaurant." Superb performances by Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, Kiefer Sutherland and Richard Dreyfuss.
Screened in 35mm.
