The Asphalt Jungle
John Huston / US, 1950 / 112 min.
In this nail-biting gangster film, John Huston strikes the perfect balance between sound studio work and influences from Italian neorealism. Marilyn Monroe has a bit part as the girlfriend of one of the gangster’s involved in a major heist.

Upon release from prison, 'Doc' Riedenschreider immediately plans his next crime: the burglary of a heavily secured jewellers. The plan is supremely detailed, but – as is so often the case – humans are the weakest link. The loot is fought for tooth and nail.
