The son, a naïve 20-something born in the bunker, only knows the outside world from stories. Together with his father (Michael Shannon), a former energy magnate, he is working on a suspicious book, while his unpredictable mother (Tilda Swinton) worries about conserving the many priceless paintings and works of art.

Why in Eye

Tilda Swinton: "Joshua Oppenheimer’s barely-dystopian allegory: a billionaire family underground for twenty-five years in their exquisite recreation of an art-stuffed Upper East Side apartment. The world above ground burns and they sing their denial. We spent that Spring in the salt mines of Sicily and Leipzig and are, forevermore since, grateful for the sky, the birds and each other, as long as we have them."
