When composer Gustav Aschenbach travels to Venice to recuperate in the Grand Hotel des Bains on the Lido, his gaze is captured by an androgynous vision – a boy who embodies perfect beauty. Aschenbach becomes obsessed by this boy, who is called ‘Tadzio’.
