The Names of Christ
Albert Serra / ES, 2010 / 193 min.
Screening of a 14-part TV series made for the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. Artist/filmmaker Albert Serra made both a biting satire on the art world and a layered, conceptual reflection on the relationship between text and image, museums and visitors and artworks and exhibition spaces.
First there was the book, then the film, then the screening of a TV series as part of an exhibition in the museum. No lack of meta layering in Albert Serra’s experimental interpretation of an assignment from the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA).
In this series, running at over three hours, Serra draws parallels between art and religious suffering.
