The local pub is just about the only meeting place left for the inhabitants of a poverty-stricken town in the north of England, which has never really recovered from the loss of the mining industry. The future of the pub and its landlord TJ (Dave Turner) hang by a thread. When the arrival of Syrian refugees meets with all kinds of xenophobic reactions, TJ decides to help these newcomers as best he can – to the dismay of some of his regulars.
