The Promise

Daan Veldhuizen / NL, 2025 / 117 min.

A forgotten war and a lost future. During the 1960s, it seemed as if West-Papua was going to become independent. However, international interests, geopolitical power relations and economic profits meant otherwise. Using unique, impressive, restored 35 mm archival footage The Promise brings this history back to life, revealing a people being systematically betrayed and oppressed.
