The Quitter
Joseph Henabery / US, 1929 / 82 min.
'HKU Meets Eye' is an exceptional, annual live performance accompanying a silent film. Composition students from HKU Muziek en Technologie composed the music for The Quitter. The score will be performed live by the Keuris Ensemble led by Henry Kelder.

The legendary Hollywood studio Columbia Pictures celebrates its 100th anniversary this year and Eye will celebrate with a wide-ranging programme from the studio’s glory days. The films, including rediscoveries and surprising, seldom-screened B-films, reveal that art and commerce can go hand in hand. One of the films to be screened is The Quitter, a silent film from 1929. The 35mm print of this film, that is in the Eye collection, is the only surviving copy of the film and was conserved in 1992. With Dutch intertitles.
