In this wildly comedic thriller a man (Nicolas Cage) returns to his home town on the Australian coast to buy back his parental home. There he encounters a group of aggressive local surfers and delusions and reality start running together.
It seemed such a good idea, buying back the parental home in Australia to go surfing there with your son. But that’s not what the local surf scene thinks, the latter having turned into a violent sect led by the merciless Scally (Julian McMahon), replete with toxic masculinity and brutal hazing rituals. When the Surfer (Nicolas Cage) arrives on the beach, there proves to be a new rule: You don’t live here, you don’t surf here.
