The Waste Land
Chris Teerink / NL, BE, 2024 / 105 min.
In search of what T.S. Eliot’s famous poem can mean for our times. Chris Teerink created a slideshow of powerful photos, accompanied by the voices of poets, academics and philosophers, including Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer and Richard Sennett.

We live in uncertain times, when direction and meaning are hard to pin down. Documentary maker Chris Teerink sees parallels with T.S. Eliot’s famous poem The Waste Land (1922). A work that is now over one hundred years old; throughout all those years readers, literary scholars and other sages have probed the meaning of this famous text. But what exactly The Waste Land is all about, no one really knows.
The film is spoken in English and has Dutch subtitles. Ilja Leonard Pfeiffer speaks Dutch and is subtitled in English.
