Whatever happened to the members of the ‘Tilsammans’ commune? Lukas Moodysson reunites them 25 years later in a warm, but also dark, comedy that almost feels like a documentary. On the chaos of lived lives, and the fragility of ideals.
In 1999, there are only two of the original members left: likeable, peaceful Göran and Klasse. Even though they never left, their passionate hippie ideals from the seventies burn less brightly now. In an effort to combat their listlessness, Klasse secretly invites former members of the commune to Göran’s birthday party.
Preliminary film
Before the screening of Together 99 you can watch the short film Tarting Over (3') by Paul de Nooijer from 1981. Two men at a table with two mocha cakes. With this apparently simple fact, De Nooijer manages to surprise the viewer.
