It is human nature to long for something different, something that lies“somewhere over the rainbow”. At times, this aspirational dreaming leads to improvements, but more often than not, this attitude leads to a sense of discontent with our own lot, an unquenchable thirst for what is just beyond our reach. Over the Rainbow explores this precarious balance between desire and happiness, fantasy and the familiar.

What is life? It’s the veins of a lotus leaf. It’s the touch-and-go of a dragonfly. It’s a faint fragrance dissipating in the air. It’s ripples disappearing into the water… In the lotus pond at dawn, life…lies within every little wonder & mystery of nature.

Op een zomermiddag verzamelt een familie zich bij hun oude huis. Ze omringen hun oma om hun liefde te tonen, hoewel zij niet meer in staat is om te bewegen, te reageren of duidelijk te horen. Terwijl mensen komen en gaan, blijft de televisie dezelfde beelden herhalen en zoemt de ventilator alsmaar door in het vredige oude huis, waar oma en haar dienstmeid wonen.
