Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)
Kaboom 2024: Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)
In his 1962 song, Marvin Gaye chants "Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)".
He delves into the inner feelings of a wandering soul who isn't able to fully invest in romantic relationships and finds solace in the fact that home is wherever one chooses to lay their hat. And Gaye wasn't wrong in those lyrics, yet many people don't chose to leave home. They are forced to move, to travel, to flee or to stay in captivity. This programme summons stories about forced migration, dreaming of a better life "Abroad", and all kinds of travels. Indiana Jones may have finally take his hat off for good, many still struggle to find a place to lay down theirs.
The films shown in this programme are either spoken or subtitled in English.

Home sweet home. Zoals het klokje thuis tikt, tikt het nergens. Home is where the heart is. There’s no place like home. What does home mean to you? Wat if it’s no longer a place, but an object, a person, a memory, a taste, a language, a smell or an image?
