John Cassavetes filmed the story of the nervous breakdown of Mabel, a housewife with great powers of imagination. Struggling to fulfill the multiple roles of mother, housewife and spouse, Mabel hovers on the edge of madness. Great acting performances by Gena Rowlands and Peter Falk, Rowlands was nominated for an Oscar.
