This edition of Meet the Archive centres on filmmaker (and original member of the Dolle Mina feminist movement) Hillie Molenaar, occasioned by her 80th birthday and the recent digitisation of her film Abortus: van breinaald tot politiek steekspel (1978).
Hillie Molenaar’s films Abortus doe je niet zomaar (1975) and Abortus: van breinaald tot politiek steekspel (1978) have recently been digitised. These 16mm films from Eye’s collection which, at the time, were screened until they frayed at the Vrije Circuit, haven’t been screened for a long time. Thanks to digitisation they are now accessible once more and proving to still be painfully relevant given the renewed global attack on reproductive rights.
