Import & Alaska

Alaska & Import

Alaska was Mike van Diem’s highly-praised (short) fiction film debut, winning him a Golden Calf. An exceptional feat that should encourage today’s debut filmmakers. Van Diem will be talking about this, followed by Ena Sendijarevic's (short) fiction film debut Import.

In 1989, Van Diem (Character, The Surprise) graduated from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy with Alaska, a psychological thriller about an extramarital relationship that leads to revenge, jealousy and betrayal.

Part of

Up-and-coming film talent at Eye: a new generation of Dutch makers are given the opportunity to present their debut films, discuss filmmaking and select films by makers that inspired them. These Badlands evenings are compiled by guest curators Lemuël de Graav, Xiang Yu Yeung and Eye programmer Ronald Simons.
