Billie
James Erskine / GB, 2019 / 96 min.
She was one of the greatest jazz singers of all times. Billie Holiday died young, in 1959, but is never forgotten. A compelling documentary about an African American singer living in America prior to the Civil Rights movement.

In 1971, journalist Linda Lipnack Kuehl began working on her biography of Billie Holiday. The project was never completed, but Lipnack Kuehl did manage to interview dozens of people who had known ‘Lady Day’ closely. Her archive includes around 200 audio tapes of these interviews.

Billie is part of Pepr, a collaboration between streaming service Picl and distributor Full Color Entertainment.
