Camping

Thijs Chanowski / NL, 1978 / 90 min.

The highs and lows of life on a campsite are all present in this hilarious comedy by legendary Dutch theatre collective Het Werkteater: including anonymous letters, wild chases, withered and blossoming passions. In memoriam Peter Faber.

Camping would go on to achieve fame as the film in which a cantankerous Peter Faber screams, while trying to park his enormous caravan: ‘Holiday, holiday, holiday!!’ – a scene that has now achieved cult status in its own right. As well as the unforgettable line: "The gas – did you turn off the gas?!" Whether you love campsite life or loathe it, Camping is crammed with highly recognisable skits on the perils of camping and the associated compulsory ‘relaxation’.
