Darkman
Sam Raimi / US, 1990 / 95 min.
In Darkman a severely disfigured scientist takes revenge on the criminals who wrecked his life by assuming different identities. Thanks to his knowledge of skin grafts he can produce a new skin. With in the lead Frances McDormand and cameos for Joel and Ethan Coen.

What would cinema be without the ‘mad scientist’ who cobbles together his own, immortal human. Sam Raimi’s inspiration for Darkman was clearly fed by 1950’s horror films about scientific experiments gone awry. After two Evil Dead films Darkman was Sam Raimi’s first major studio production and it would become a cult film thanks to its deft combination of action, effects and campy humour. Featuring Liam Neeson, Frances McDormand and Larry Drake.
