Cycling in Amsterdam, it’s so ordinary you hardly notice it. Filmmaker and artist Kees Hin thinks differently: ‘Cycling is a symphony of a city in motion, vitality; it’s that fundamental tension between happiness and unhappiness, young or old, rich or poor.’
Kees Hin made this almost meditative film about cycling which philosophically makes us contemplate the cycle of life. Individuals are zoomed in on and followed from among the moving, undulating throngs of cyclists: a courier, a delivery rider, a mobile bicycle repair shop, a physiotherapist, a family of emigrants and a victim of cycling traffic. They all talk about how bicycles play a determinant role in their lives.
