De films van Hin
Meet the Archive: de films van Hin (vervolg)
Two films from the rich oeuvre of father and son Jan and Kees Hin, plus a short film by Barbara Hin. Jan was active in the avant-garde in the 1930s, Kees was an idiosyncratic, independent filmmaker.

This presentation is dedicated to the films of the Hin family, and includes two documentaries that focus on World War II.
Jan Hin (1899-1957) started his career with Joris Ivens as part of the filmmaking avant-garde in the Netherlands in the thirties, when he founded Hinfilm, making several films for the more progressive Catholics community. His best-known film is Kentering from 1932, a film made for the RK Werkliedenverbond (Roman Catholic Working People’s Association).
His son Kees Hin (1936-2020) developed from the mid-sixties into an idiosyncratic, independent maker of films and television, making over a hundred films. From short, poetic observations to feature-length fiction films and documentaries.
