De muziekpraktijk in de vroege cinema: lezing door Martin de Ruiter
EYE music programmer Martin de Ruiter looks at the 1910s, when the musical accompaniment of films became regular practice and the performances were reviewed in the papers along with the films themselves. Manuals were published for orchestras and the films were sent out to cinemas along with suggestions for the appropriate type of music to play.

The Cinema Concert film Fior di male is a case in point. Fior di male (1915) will be screened after Martin de Ruiter”s talk to live music performed by Pien Straesser (voice) and Gilbert den Broeder (piano) at 16.00.
