Donnie Darko
Richard Kelly / US, 2001 / 112 min.
Richard Kelly’s debut film was received as a matchless hybrid of teen drama, sci-fi narrative and satire on life in the American suburbs. It is 1988: angst-ridden teenager Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal) travels parallel universes and gets into discussions with a huge rabbit called Frank.

Donnie’s life takes a bizarre turn when, one night, he is awakened by Frank, a man in a rabbit suit who tells him the world is going to end in exactly 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds. Surreal events increase in frequency until Donnie’s sense of reality is destroyed…
