Ennio
Giuseppe Tornatore / IT, BE, NL, JP, 2021 / 156 min.
Fascinating, enthralling homage to the composer of unforgettable films scores such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Mission and Once Upon a Time in America who died in 2020. Morricone provides insight into his methods during a long interview.

He would have preferred to have become a doctor, but his father wanted the young Ennio Morricone (1928 - 2020) to attend conservatorium to become a trumpet player. As a relative outsider (due to his social class) Morricone subsequently studied composition. Film music was never his goal, he composed it to fund his experimental, abstract works.
