Eye Art & Film Prize award ceremony 2023
Presentation of the Eye Art & Film Prize to the winner Garrett Bradley. This annual prize is given to an artist working at the intersection of visual art and film. The presentation is followed by a Q&A with Bradley and screening of her documentary Time.

US artist and filmmaker Garrett Bradley is the winner of the Eye Art & Film Prize 2023. Bradley receives the prize for her trailblazing work, in which she combines a personal visual style with research and social commitment. The jury found Bradley’s engagement distinctive, and her contemporary aesthetics and adventurous attitude to be truly impressive.
“We are delighted that Garrett Bradley is the ninth winner of the Eye Art & Film Prize. Bradley has been awarded this prize for her courageous, visually compelling work, which takes on themes including racism and exclusion with exceptional energy. Her work is given concrete form in a mix of different media. Her (documentary) films and installations refer to topics including the history of Americans, the struggle for social justice and the political history of the United States, and make in-depth explorations of human emotions such as rage and sorrow.
Jury chair Bregtje van der Haak, director of Eye Filmmuseum
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A with Garrett Bradley and screening of her documentary Time (2020).
Eye Art & Film Prize
It would be impossible to imagine contemporary art without including film and video. Which is why, in 2015, Eye launched a prize for visual work at the intersection of art and film. The prize is awarded to an individual who has created a range of high-quality work and is compiling an exceptional body of work that demonstrates a distinct vision of film art and/or visual culture. The prize consists of 30,000 Euros and is intended for the creation of new work. From 2023, the prize is supported by Ammodo.
