Eyeshadow: High Fidelity + Niko
First a film, then a live performance: each month Eyeshadow joins a film classic to happening bands. Stephen Frears’ sparkling film adaptation of Nick Hornby’s bestseller High Fidelity is an irresistible study of a thirty-something who threatens to fall victim to his passion. John Cusack plays a record shop owner who is only into soul, rock and new wave. Niko’s raw, danceable and lightly melancholic indie rock is a perfect match for the film.

Rob is a thirty-something recently dumped by his girl-friend who prefers to spend all his time in his own record shop, where only the true vinyl aficionado is made to feel welcome. Collecting records is Rob”s thing, a passion he shares with his two sadcase assistants Dick and Barry. The three are also obsessed with compiling top five lists – on anything, though music tops the list.
energetic tribute
Stephen Frears” portrait of three slackers who may have taken a detour on the road to maturity is a humoristic and energetic tribute to a strong passion for pop and rock music. Rob is no oddball, but he will shut the door on anyone who doesn”t share his passion. Only when his girlfriend leaves him does he begin to realise that there may be more to life than the record shop.
performance by niko
For Rob, Dick and Barry all that matters is soul, rock, blues and new wave. Niko is the perfect band with their raw, danceable and lightly melancholic indie rock.
Niko made a name with angular riffs, catchy refrains and memorable cynical lyrics, playfully sung with a hefty dose of slack. Expect some vigorous guitar work, as featured on Niko”s latest record 'You Might Like It, But I Might Just Hate It'.
