Bob Bronshoff has been photographing film sets for years. A selection of his photographs is on show at Eye: Actie! Bob Bronshoff op de set. On the wall adjacent to Cinema 1 at Eye, a selection of works will be exhibited from 23 August until 11 September, including set photos from feature films Borgman, Filmpje!, Flodder, Ja zuster nee zuster, Karakter, Minoes, Prins, Suzy Q, Unter den Palmen, and Wolf. The presentation will also include a brief documentary by Annabel Essink and Freek Zonderland who followed Bronshoff at work, as well as copies of Dutch film magazines Skrien and de Filmkrant with pieces by Jan Pieter Ekker. The set photos will become part of Eye’s collection.

This evening, which is a festive conclusion to the presentation, will be hosted by film journalist Noa Johannes.

In the early 1980s, Dutch film magazine Skrien asked Bob Bronshoff (Amsterdam, 1958) if he couldn’t shoot some photographs for them. Soon enough he was photographing the likes of Akira Kurosawa, Wim Wenders and Robbie Müller. In February 1995, Bronshoff was given his own photo feature in Skrien: ‘Werk in uitvoering’. For the first instalment, he visited the set of Theu Boermans’ TV series De Partizanen in Limburg.

After Skrien’s demise in 2009, the feature was adopted by Dutch film publication de Filmkrant under the title: ‘Actie!’. Bronshoff has since visited over 250 sets for Dutch feature films, student films, documentaries, art projects and series, visiting the sets of both world-renowned directors and up-and-coming talents.
