Actie! Bob Bronshoff op de set
Bob Bronshoff / NL, 2022
Bob Bronshoff has been photographing film sets for over 25 years. A selection of his set photos goes on show in a presentation at Eye Filmmuseum, from 23 August to 11 September, together with a short documentary and copies of Skrien and de Filmkrant, the magazines that published his photos.

In the early 1980s, Skrien asked Bob Bronshoff (born 1958, Amsterdam) if he would like to take some photos for the film magazine. Very soon he had Akira Kurosawa, Wim Wenders and Robbie Müller in front of his camera. In February 1995 Bronshoff started his own photo column in Skrien: ‘Werk in uitvoering’ (Work in progress). For the first instalment, he travelled to Limburg to visit the set of the television series De Partizanen by Theu Boermans. When Skrien ceased publication in 2009, de Filmkrant adopted the column under another name: ‘Actie!’ By then Bronshoff had visited the sets of more than 250 Dutch feature films, student films, documentaries, art projects and series, by world-renowned directors and emerging talents.
A large selection of photos is on display on the wall outside Cinema 1 in Eye, featuring the sets of Borgman, Filmpje!, Flodder, Ja zuster Nee zuster, Karakter, Minoes, Prins, Suzy Q, Unter den Palmen and Wolf, together with a short documentary by Annabel Essink and Freek Zonderland, who follow Bronshoff on the set, and copies of Skrien and de Filmkrant, with texts by Jan Pieter Ekker. The set photos are being added to the Eye collection.
The presentation finissage takes place on Sunday 11 September, starting at 20:30. The programme features an interview with Bob Bronshoff, which focuses on a selection of his photos, columns by Hans Aarsman and Peter Delpeut, a film quiz chaired by director Martin Koolhoven and film programmer Ronald Simons, and a performance by a band specially assembled for the occasion, headed by Jelle Broek, the guitarist with De Dijk.
The presentation near Cinema 1 is free to visit. You do not need a ticket.
