Hail, Caesar!
Ethan Coen, Joel Coen / US, GB, 2016 / 106 min.
This eccentric satire on nineteen-fifties Hollywood centres on a studio fixer who has to bend over backwards to try and solve the studio’s problems. George Clooney stars as the actor kidnapped from the set of a mega production called Hail, Caesar!.

It’s a jolly affair again in the Coen Brothers’ cinematic playground with pastiches from musicals, cowboy films and 'prestigious' epic biblical films by the likes of Cecil B. DeMille, complete with inimitable one-liners only the Coens can write. Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin) is a 'studio fixer' tasked with keeping the illusion of Hollywood glamour and morals alive in a time of moral decay and socio-political unrest. He needs to help the production run smoothly and keep the leading actors out of the headlines.
