Hearts of Darkness: a Filmmaker's Apocalypse
Fax Bahr / US, 1991 / 96 min.
When does megalomaniac ambition tip over into insanity? Documentary about what happened on the set of Coppola’s epic Apocalypse Now – ‘a war in itself’ – dealing with the Vietnam War and starring Martin Sheen, Marlon Brando and Dennis Hopper.

Francis Ford Coppola spent years and years working on his latest production, the dystopian drama Megalopolis, which he largely financed himself. Is the final result a magnum opus, or a flawed masterpiece? Reactions in the press were divided, although one thing was undisputed: the respect due to the unbridled ambition, daring and daredevil attitude with which, in his eighties, Coppola stuck to his dreams and ambitions.
