Io sono l'amore
Luca Guadagnino / IT, 2010 / 118 min.
When an Italian family gets together for the birthday of the family patriarch in their imposing family mansion in Milan, there are some major changes in store. Who will be heir to the family business, and will the family members stick together? Extraordinary acting from Tilda Swinton. On 30-1 Tilda Swinton and Luca Guadagnino will introduce the film.

At a family dinner, the paterfamilias announces who will be heir to their vast textile manufacturing business. To everyone’s surprise, he passes the firm to his son Tancredi and his grandson Eduardo. Young Edo, however, has other plans. For years, he has been dreaming about opening his own restaurant, together with his friend Antonio, an attractive and talented master chef.
Pre-film
Before Io sono l'amore, you will see Bloeiende bloemen en plantenbewegingen (J.C. Mol, 1932, 5’) with a new film score by Thijs Havens (Eye). An early Dutch scientific film in which we see flowers blooming in fast motion. Tilda Swinton hand-picked a short film, either from her rich oeuvre or from Eye’s collection, to precede all feature films.

Why in Eye
The film Luca Guadagnino and I had been developing for twelve years. With John Adams in our heads. Miraculously, he gave us his music for the soundtrack at the last moment. Another deep dream brought up from the bottom of the ocean.
