This bizarre road trip directed by Erik de Bruyn (Wild Mussels) is based on P.F. Thomése’s raunchy novel of the same name. Starring Fedja van Huêt as the literary pulp writer Frans and Frank Lammers as his favourite character J. Kessels.

This hilarious and musical road movie has Frans and J. Kessels driving from Tilburg, a town in the south of the Netherlands, to Hamburg”s notorious Reeperbahn in Kessels” ancient American clunker dubbed “Kamikaze”. They”ve been asked by someone they don”t know to track down an adulterous greasy snacks dealer (Ruben van der Meer). Then all of a sudden there”s a corpse in the boot of the Kamikaze: there it is, but how to get rid of it?
Co-starring in this film are the Flemish actress Annick Christiaens (Any Way The Wind Blows) as Brigit, Frans” libidinous dream girl. Romi Van Renterghem debuts as the young Brigit. Marc Lauwrijs (Code 37) plays her brother Bertje, while Bert Huysentruyt (The Broken Circle Breakdown) stars as their dad. Together these three are the De Braaij family, who run the Belgian chippy “Chips of the Old Block” in Tilburg. J. Kessels was the opening film at the Netherlands Film Festival this year.
