Jane B par Agnes V
Agnès Varda / FR, 1988 / 97 min.
This 'portrait-fiction' is a playful, colourful film about actress and vocalist Jane Birkin. The experimental portrait exudes the fun experienced whilst making it. Effervescent with ideas Agnès Varda uses fictional scenes and tableaux vivants revolving around Birkin.

Varda plays is a sensual, amusing game, a flirt between Varda, her camera and the actress who wishes to be an anonymous celebrity. We get to know Birkin in all manner of guises; as: Jane d’Arc, Calamity Jane, Tarzan’s Jane and Jane van Gainsbourg. She switches roles and costumes to amuse herself in the interplay with Varda, who comes up with all sorts of ideas like homages to Marilyn Monroe or Stan Laurel.
