Kaspar Hauser - Jeder für sich und Gott gegen alle
Werner Herzog / DE, 1974 / 110 min.
Werner Herzog’s idiosyncratic classic. For the role of 17-year-old Kaspar Hauser – the ‘enfant sauvage’ who was unable to speak – he cast 41-year-old Berlin street singer Bruno S. Kaspar is given culture – but maybe he was better off in his original condition?

It remains an enigmatic tale: one day, a young man is found wandering the streets of Nuremberg, dressed in rags and unable to speak or read. All he has is a note stating his name: Kaspar Hauser.
