Koolhoven & Simons: One Night Only
mythical place

Jeff Goldblum steps outside his suburban comfort zone for a nocturnal trip through Los Angeles. At the airport, he meets a mysterious jewel thief, played by the ever magnificent Michelle Pfeiffer, who takes him on a wild ride through the city.
With only a modest plot but with immoderate pleasure, John Landis (An American Werewolf in London, Trading Places, Twilight Zone: The Movie, the Thriller video clip) made use of spots in Los Angeles, yachts in Marina Del Rey, past Rodeo Drive to Marion Davies”s mansion in Beverly Hills.
The run-on commentary in old films and TV commercials turns Los Angeles into the mythical place the city so much wants to be. Numerous major filmmakers appear in cameo performances: watch out for David Cronenberg, Roger Vadim, Paul Bartel, Jonathan Demme and Don Siegel, and especially David Bowie as a British hitman.

Koolhoven & Simons
Koolhoven and Simons will be scrutinising the genre film, presenting films within pretty forthright themes that have never before been screened at Eye. Expect evenings on Trucker, Grindhouse or Revenge of Nature films. A tribute to rarely screened trailers and forgotten classics, where possible in 35mm, using films from Eye’s collection.
