La grande vadrouille
Gérard Oury / FR, GB, 1966 / 132 min.
Louis de Funès and Bourvil shine as an eccentric conductor and a house painter who help two British pilots, attracting the wrath of the German occupiers. This comedy classic par excellence has for decades topped the French charts for most-watched films of all time.

Screening of a 4K restoration made to mark the film’s 50th anniversary. La grande vadrouille was the first exuberant French comedy to tackle World War II, still a highly sensitive subject at the time. An English bomber is shot down by the Nazis above Paris. Two of its crew end up with the naive, sympathetic Augustin (Bourvil) and the pretentious, ever-excitable conductor Stanislas (Louis de Funès), and countless absurd situations ensue.
