A summer’s day in Berlin. Two lovers have just twenty minutes to change the course of their lives in Tykwer’s scintillating, unpredictable hit film, with a lead role for the streets of Berlin. Tiny choices lead to hugely different outcomes.
Flamboyant Lola (Franka Potente) gets a panic-stricken telephone call from her boyfriend Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu), a gangster’s gopher who’s lost a big bag of money in the metro. If Lola can’t come up with 100,000 Marks inside of twenty minutes, Manni will have to pay with his life. As Lola runs manically through the streets of Berlin and the seconds tick away, the story starts again – and again, and again – their lives taking a different twist each time, culminating in different outcomes.
