Maak je eigen flipboek: Magische dromen

Filmmagie: Maak je eigen flipboek

In this family workshop, you'll create your own flipbook, exploring the movement of images. Before the workshop, you'll watch a film programme featuring five short animated films about dreams and fantasy ('magic dreams').

This time around, Filmmagie focuses on magical dreams. The short animations provide inspiration for the flipbooks they will make during the workshop.

Beren op de weg (Nadia Meezen, NL 2014, 4')

Animated film about Theo, who just loves to drive around in his little yellow car. One day, he comes across a bear on the road. He’s so startled, he crashes. After this accident, Theo becomes more and more afraid to pick up his old life. The more he allows this fear into his life, the more bears he starts seeing all around him. When all his paths are blocked, he realises he can’t go on like this. He has to tame his inner bears so he can carry on.

  • still Spring (Andreas Goralczyk, NL 2020)

Spring (Andreas Goralczyk, NL 2020, 8')

Why does spring happen every year? This fairy-tale animation provides a possible answer. In a wondrous world a girl journeys into a misty forest. There she awakens a divine tree spirit. If she does this right she will have the power to make it rain, to make the sun shine and to make things grow bestowed upon her so she can apply them where she lives, but things don’t come off without a hitch.

  • still Bimo Xinglü (Travelling through Brush and Ink) (Annlin Chao, TW 2017)

Bimo Xinglü (Annlin Chao, TW 2017, 3')

Annlin Chao's film Bimo Xinglü takes the viewer on a journey through Chinese art history. A boy steps into a new landscape time and again, inspired by a Chinese painting. There, he magically becomes part of his surroundings.

  • still Zeezucht (Marlies van der Wel, NL 2015)

Zeezucht (Marlies van der Wel, NL 2015, 11')

Jonas dreams of a life in the sea. But this is impossible. Or is it? From the first moment Jonas sees the sea, as a child, he knows that this is his home. He wants to become one with the sea, forever. He spends his life combing the beach in search of objects with which he builds bizarre installations aimed at making his dream of a new life among fishes come true.

  • still Crumble (Max Peterse & Eileen Boeijkens, NL 2023)

Crumble (Max Peterse & Eileen Boeijkens, NL 2023, 2')

In this animated tale, the spirits of nature in a dying world have had enough, and are leaving. A frightened stone watches them plunge from a cliff, into the unknown. Finally, he is left there, all alone, and his situation quickly becomes impossible. Will he be able to overcome his fear and take the great leap?
