Programme

Ulrich Seidl – Über das Leben, die Liebe und den Tod
19:00 - 23:00 (continuous)
Über das Leben, die Liebe und den Tod is the first exhibition in the Netherlands by acclaimed Austrian filmmaker Ulrich Seidl. Bringing together a wealth of early, previously unseen and new (film) work, the exhibition confronts visitors with the often curious pursuits of a number of seemingly ordinary people as they search for love, happiness and affection in a late-capitalist society where a sense of meaning has been replaced by consumerism. Seidl’s work is characterised as unsettling because it confronts viewers with their own preconceptions about how people live, what they think, how they furnish their homes, how they entertain themselves and how they seek a sense of security in their own way.
What is Film?
19:00 - 23:00 (continuous)
On the ground floor and throughout Eye, various installations explore the world of moving images in the permanent exhibition What is Film? Discover the development of film, from its earliest days to the present. Browse Eye’s unique collection. Find out how the earliest cameras worked. Enjoy some of the most beautiful film fragments. New this time is the animation gallery, where you can explore different forms and techniques of animation.
Make your own flipbook
19:00 - 23:00 (continuous)
Have you seen the trend on TikTok? In the permanent exhibition What is Film? on the ground floor of Eye Filmmuseum, you can make your own flipbook. Press start, strike a fun pose and have your mini-film immortalised in the Flipbook Corner on the ground floor for €8.50.
Soundtrack Karaoke
21:00 - 01:00 (continuous)
Back by popular demand: for one night only, Eye’s biggest screen is transformed into the biggest karaoke screen in the city, in collaboration with KINNFOLK! Sing along with hundreds of other Museumnacht visitors to the greatest soundtracks in film history. From My Heart Will Go On to Born Slippy, all the classics are here. No experience necessary – enthusiasm essential.

In Cinema 2, all the seats are cleared away to make room for a proper dance floor. Step into the spotlight as choreographer Judy Lijdsman teaches you the moves from some of the most iconic dance scenes in film history (and yes, music videos count too). In collaboration with Cinedans.
Cineville Filmquiz

Nostalgia guaranteed!
House Party
22:00 - 02:00 (continuous)
Eye’s large open space is transformed into an old-school house party especially for Museumnacht, complete with arcade games, board games and a DJ behind the decks. Projected onto the windows and walls are Parisian fashion films from the 1910s and 1920s, recently restored by Eye, alongside a selection of party and house-party scenes from films in Eye’s collection.
The Swap Club
19:00 - 22:00 (continuous)
Give your wardrobe a second life at The Swap Club’s clothes swap. Bring along your best, gently worn items and exchange them for something new to you. Fun, surprising and good for the planet.
