The animation gallery focuses on the craftsmanship of five iconic Dutch animators from 1950 to 2010: Joop Geesink, Monique Renault, Gerrit van Dijk, Maarten Visser and José Vonk. Animated films and objects from the collection can be admired: animation cells, puppets, original drawings and film strips.

The presentation shows the different forms and techniques of animation: puppet animation, animation by drawing directly on film strips, mosaic animation, rotoscopy and cell animation. Animation is a process of endless patience and precision.

“It is important Dutch film history that is not only made accessible here, but above all: kept alive.”
