My Twentieth Century
Ildikó Enyedi / HU, DE, CU, 1989 / 105 min.
Hungarian classic from the late 1980s. Separated twins meet on the Orient Express around 1900 – the world is rapidly electrifying, silent films are booming. Witty, magical ode to modernity and the socio-political developments during that tumultuous age.

My Twentieth Century is the curious tale of the twins Dóra and Lili – played by Polish actress Dorota Segda – who were born in Budapest in 1880, the year Edison presented the incandescent lamp to the world. The sisters are kidnapped and separated, in 1899, on New Year’s Eve, they find themselves aboard the Orient Express in central Europe.
