In 1984 William Gibson wrote the short story 'New Rose Hotel', an archetypal cyberpunk tale of a dystopian future centring on industrial espionage.
Ferrara contracted his favourite actors Willem Dafoe and Christopher Walken for the adaptation to play the two operatives commissioned by a Japanese company to lure a German scientist away from his employer. Asia Argento plays the femme fatale employing her charms.
