One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Milos Forman / US, 1975 / 132 min.
This milestone in the history of film won five Oscars, including awards for Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher. Nicholson stars as the rebellious McMurphy who is committed to a mental institution and openly challenges the authority of Nurse Ratched. 50th Anniversary!

Randle P. McMurphy (Nicholson) has himself declared mentally defective to escape a prison sentence. But this backfires when he’s sent to a psychiatric institution for an indefinite period. There, he tries to shake things up a bit with jokes and games, and even manages to get 'deaf mute' Chief Broom to speak. Thwarted at every turn by tyrannical Nurse Ratched, however, dyed-in-the-wool provocateur McMurphy incites the patients to revolt.
