Humie Pourseyf’s Washing the Eyes showcases films that illuminate stories often marginalised in mainstream cinema. Through these works, we question history, challenge notions of belonging, and trace transformative journeys—both personal and collective—in search of the meaning of home.

Architectures of Intimacy, curated by Kato van der Speeten, celebrates the connections and interactions between people in intimate spaces such as a sauna, public bathroom or taxi.

In her programme The Tower of Crossed Destinies, Alicia Bergamelli explores how folktales, fairytales and mythical stories continue to shape cinema.

Programmers of the Future

Eye Filmmuseum launched the talent development programme Programmers of the Future in 2022, for a new generation of film programmers and curators. In the eleven-month training, participants learn everything they need to know about film programming, sharing their own ideas and inspiring other programmers in the museum.

    A Passage (Rouzbeh Akhbari & Felix Kalmenson, CA/AR 2020, 22’)

A Passage is a short film exploring the impact of border militarisation and neoliberal development in southern Armenia. Through poetic visuals and performance, it reflects on lost connectivity and the transformation of shared spaces into zones of exclusion and capital.

Neither God nor Santa Maria (Helena Girón & Samuel Delgado, ES 2015, 12’)

Filmmakers Samuel M. Delgado and Helena Girón embark on the journey to search for the last living witch in Yé, a small town on the island of Lanzarote, recovering non-verbal histories that are fading away and evoking an eerie, otherworldly atmosphere where things have been forgotten.

“Since aeroplanes did not exist, people moved around using prayers; they went from one land to another and returned early, before dawn. In old audio recordings, the voices of pastors speak of the mythical existence of witches and their travels. In a woman's daily life, the magic of her tales begins to materialise as night falls. Night is the time when travel is possible.” — Samuel Delgado & Helena Girón
