Peeping Tom
Michael Powell / GB, 1960 / 102 min.
Michael Powell’s first feature-length film after years of collaborating with Emeric Pressburger almost immediately signalled his end as a filmmaker. Peeping Tom – an examination of voyeurism and the camera’s power – was denounced as ‘sick’ and ‘immoral’. 4K restoration.
Mark Lewis is a shy camera assistant at a film studio. In his spare time he takes pornographic pictures. Mark was abused as child for his father, a biologist’s scientific experiments into the basis of human fear. He tortured Mark and recorded the child’s panic on celluloid.
