Peeping Tom
Michael Powell / GB, 1960 / 102 min.
Michael Powell’s first feature-length fiction film following many years of collaboration with Emeric Pressburger pretty much put paid to his career as a filmmaker. Peeping Tom – a study in voyeurism and the power of the camera – was denounced upon its release as ‘sick’ and ‘immoral’. 4K restored version.

Shy Mark Lewis works as a camera assistant in a film studio; in his spare time he takes pornographic photographs. As a child, Mark was abused in scientific experiments by his father, a biologist investigating the basis of human fear. He tortured Mark and recorded the boy’s panic on celluloid.
