Rice
Lin Hwai-min / TW, 2013 / 69 min.
For the first time ever, Cinedans FEST hosts an International Performance Relay & Camera Rework Competition. Together with dancescreen by the IMZ International Music + Media Centre, we showcase, in the cinema and online, a diverse selection of film productions from stages around the world.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the world famous Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, its
founder and acclaimed choreographer Lin Hwai-min has created a new ballet entitled Rice. The natural world is both the inspiration and the setting for Rice. The ballet is divided into the sections Soil, Pollen, Sunlight, Grain, Fire and Water, and reflect the changing seasons with their ever repeating cycle of life. A sharply moving synthesis of man and nature, east and west, death and rebirth. We see magnificent ensemble work and grounded dancers of a dance company that does not perform very often in the Netherlands.
Rice is part of the special Focus Taiwan.
